Making up for lost time....

As someone (cough, cough... az...cough) recently pointed out I haven't updated my blog "since Hallowe'en". So I guess I owe a few entries.

Soooo... What have I been doing lately?

I posted previously about "An Exquisite Corpse" and then joined up. My first entries were posted on November 18th and the 25th and I am waiting for two more that I participated in to appear.

I came across a great blog this evening, called "The Wit of the Staircase". The name comes from the French phrase "esprit d'escalier" "literally, it means "the wit of the staircase", and usually refers to the perfect witty response you think up after the conversation or argument is ended". Well worth the read.....
From there, a link to this story:

".... Also appearing there was folkie-activist Phil Ochs, a veteran of the Kennedy and Eugene McCarthy campaigns of 1968, a co-founder of the Yippies, and proud possessor of an FBI file that ran 410 pages to Lennon's mere 280.
Ochs was far more politically active than Lennon, and given to such wised-up conceits as "If there's any hope of a revolution in America, it lies in getting Elvis Presley to become Che Guevara." When he was brutally mugged in Dar Es Salaam in 1973, he speculated that the US government was behind the three men who choked him and caused him to lose the upper three notes of his vocal range. Perhaps he was being paranoid about this. That's what people thought when he claimed the FBI had a fat file on him, though, and he was right about that." From The Guardian Unlimited, Sat. December is a busy month for Harris, Smith and Workman and, consequently, me. The boys have been books every Saturday and Sunday pretty well for the month. I have been out every time, so far, and plan to be out to every coming show.
Last night, it was The Barley Mow where I had my birthday and where, as a result of my booking HSW for the evening, they were booked for another show (last night's show). Hopefully, this will become a regular gig for them, although the show was somewhat "interferred with" by the presence of two couples at a table near the band who spent the entire time hollering, shrieking, screaching and generally making asses of themselves..... when they weren't sucking each others' tonsils. At one point, one couple was nearly horizontal for a good 3 or 4 minutes, sucking face. Even Rob's stepson and his 3 friends, all around 15 were disgusted by both the women's language and the face-sucking.
I figured if these louts were going to put on a floor show for the whole restaurant, I was free to share it with the world. I still haven't gotten the band videos up, but first thing upon arriving home, I uploaded my video of the other "entertainment".
On the upside of the evening, I finally got to meet Rob's wonderful wife, Maggie, whom I had heard plenty about but not met until now. I was pleased to see her again this evening at Ken and Rob's gig in Ashton.
Ray's twins, Holly and Angela, were also at the Barley Mow show, along with Holly's husband, Greg Harris (Lefty McRighty of "Lefty McRighty and The Boxcar Cadavers" and no relation to Ray Harris aside from being his son-in-law). Greg made a special appearance onstage with Ray and Ken, singing Hank Williams' "My Bucket's Got a Hole In It". Ray and Greg have played together under the name "Pancho and Lefty" and Ray did some of the guitar work on The Cadavers' self-titled cd "Lefty McRighty and the Boxcar Cadavers".
I have also been chatting on Stickam, probably more than I should be but not enough as I'd like. Unfortunately, jobs where they pay you to sit on your ass chatting and watching videos on YouTube all day are VERY few and far between. Very unfair, really, because I would be very good at my job if that WAS my job.
Update:
Apparently, The Barley Mow will not become a regular venue for HS&W. They were less than thrilled with the unenthusiastic and noisy crowd, as well as several problems with the staff.
